MB Foundation Sponsors Ministry and Impact Tour of Salt Lake City
MB Foundation had the privilege of sponsoring a ministry tour of Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 26, 2018, in conjunction with the USMB National Convention. The tour provided 88 participants with a better understanding of the Mormon culture, the ministry of South Mountain Community Church (SMCC), and the work of God through the Mennonite Brethren in Utah. “We wanted to provide an opportunity for people to understand Mormonism and celebrate the amazing work God is doing in Utah through our MB family,” said Jon C. Wiebe, President & CEO of MB Foundation.
The tour’s first stop was the 10-acre Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City, where participants learned about the extensive Mormon history and saw the grip that Mormonism has on the people of Utah. Next, the tour stopped at the SMCC main campus in Draper. Here, participants were greeted by church staff as they toured the campus and saw a glimpse into the impact of the SMCC ministry. Participants went on to visit the newly opened SMCC South Jordan Campus before concluding the tour.
MB Foundation has over $10.5 Million loaned out to SMCC to fund the buildings necessary to grow the ministry. Many tour participants were amazed at the extent of the ministry of SMCC and grateful for the involvement of MB Foundation in providing capital to support this significant ministry. “We were very encouraged by the tour and are thankful to be a part of what God is doing among the Mennonite Brethren in Utah and beyond,” said Wiebe.
