MB Foundation Celebrates 2015
The highlight of 2015 was hosting Celebrate 2015! where 172 baby boomers and builders came together for a week of fun, inspiration, and encouragement in Kansas City. The purpose of the event was to provide a safe place for people to celebrate God's story, consider their own story, and find ways to finish that story well. Thirty eight congregations were represented at the event from 10 different states plus Canada. It was the first such event hosted by MB Foundation and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Plans are being made to duplicate the event next year. Celebrate 2017! will be held in Denver, CO, September 29 - October 1, 2017.
Another first in 2015 was a loan rebate to all Mennonite Brethren church borrowers. The rebate totaled $200,000 to 59 churches nationwide. The rebate recipients were encouraged to use the funds to spread generosity. Overall, the loan portfolio remained strong finishing the year with a balance of $72 million; a $2 million increase from 2014.
Total assets increased from $164 million in 2014 to $174 million in 2015. Donors continued to use MB Foundation as a conduit for their giving as evidenced by a distribution of $3.6 million to 287 different charities through 1,841 different distributions in 2015. The donor generosity resulted in gifts to educational institutions (32% of the distributions), non-MB churches (29%), local MB churches (13%), missions (18%), MB Conferences and other MB ministries (8%).

"One of our greatest desires is to help folks be able to understand and practice increasing levels of generosity; to grow in this grace of giving," says Jon C. Wiebe, President & CEO of MB Foundation. "It is exciting and encouraging to see faith being ignited by our donors and Celebrate attendees as they develop a passion to fuel ministry and spread generosity," says Wiebe.
