Traver Stewardship Story
For Kayla Traver and her family, the path to better financial management began with a simple realization: they needed guidance. “We entered adulthood at a disadvantage when it came to being good stewards of the resources God has given us,” said Kayla. Growing up in homes where money was rarely discussed and often mismanaged, both she and her husband faced gaps in financial knowledge that left them searching for a new way forward.
Since joining the Mennonite Brethren family, she and her husband have discovered resources through MB Foundation that have transformed their approach to stewardship. “We’re learning to become wiser stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us,” Kayla reflects. “We now see our finances as a gift from the Lord—not just to care for our family but to be a blessing to others.”
Today, Kayla serves as the Family Pastor at Cornerstone Community Church in Topeka, Kansas. Kayla and her husband are determined to rewrite their financial story for future generations, having used MB Foundation’s tools to teach their children about wise stewardship. They’ve also participated in money management classes designed specifically for pastors and their spouses—equipping them to lead by example in both their home and ministry.
Kayla shares, “The resources from MB Foundation have helped us to consider our priorities, discuss our finances together with less fear, and bring our money management under the umbrella of our convictions as Jesus followers.”
Through MB Foundation’s home loan program for MB pastoral families, the Travers were able to move out of a difficult neighborhood and into a home with a more peaceful environment. “We still have a lot to learn about managing our money,” Kayla admits, “but MB Foundation has helped us take meaningful steps forward. We’re growing as stewards of God’s blessings—and for that, we’re truly grateful.”
