Cameron Yutzy: Summer IT Intern at MB Foundation
Cameron Yutzy, from Buhler, Kansas, has spent this summer interning with MB Foundation in the IT department. He attends Buhler MB Church and is preparing to begin his second year at Tabor College this fall as an academic junior, majoring in Data Analytics.
Cameron has always enjoyed learning about technology. His fascination for computers and how they work has inspired him to pursue a computer-related career in the future. His internship at MB Foundation has allowed him to gain real-world experience in a professional setting.
During his time at MB Foundation, Cameron has contributed to a variety of projects. He has worked on modifying online fillable forms using Adobe Acrobat, assisting the accounting department, enhancing several Microsoft Excel spreadsheets by adding automation and formulas to streamline day-to-day functions, and creating graphs of financial data using Microsoft Excel.
“I discovered a lot of new features in Adobe Acrobat while modifying the forms,” Cameron shared. “I also improved my Excel skills, especially in creating graphs and using Copilot to explore new tools more efficiently.”
The internship offered Cameron valuable insight into corporate operations and how different roles contribute to the organization’s mission. “It’s given me a better understanding of what people in different positions do each day, which has helped me understand how I can contribute more effectively to a company,” he said.
Working at a faith-based organization has added a deeper sense of purpose to his experience. “It’s been motivating to know that my work is helping make it easier for people to give to churches and ministries,” he reflected.
Cameron’s education has helped equip him for his internship. In the fall of 2024, he enrolled in a Microsoft Excel class through Tabor College. For the final exam, students took the official Microsoft Office Specialist test. Cameron earned the highest score in Kansas for the semester, qualifying him for the national competition in Dallas, Texas, where he competed against top students from across the country this June.
Participants were scored based on both the accuracy of their answers as well as how quickly they completed the tasks. “The test was similar to the one I took to qualify,” Cameron said. “I didn’t place in the top 10, but it was still a great experience.”
Cameron’s Excel expertise laid a strong foundation for his internship, where he was able to apply his strengths and explore new opportunities.
“Something I really liked about MB Foundation was how they immediately looked for where I could be most useful. During the first week they said something like, ‘We’re looking for ways to use your gifts and explore what else you might be able to do.’”
Cameron’s internship not only built on what he’s learned in the classroom but also helped him prepare for his future.
