MB Foundation Contributes to Ukraine Relief Fund
The situation and mounting needs of our Mennonite Brethren pastors and people in Ukraine is critical. In response, MB Foundation’s president Jon C. Wiebe announced the Board of Directors approved a $25,000 contribution to the Ukraine MB Church Relief Fund. The Ukraine MB Church Relief Fund was established by MB Foundation as an opportunity to support and provide emergency relief and refugee assistance to the Association of MB Churches in Ukraine (AMBCU).
“Knowing firsthand the situations our brothers and sisters are facing causes us to respond financially. The needs are great and we want to support the people of Ukraine in our prayers and with our finances,” said Wiebe.
Wiebe receives daily updates from pastors within the country who convey the urgent need for funds to provide essentials for those in their care. One reported 60-70 MB brothers and sisters have gathered in one location on the western side where local believers are providing them shelter. Another MB church is providing refuge for a number of children who were evacuated when the fighting became intense.
As of date, 49 contributors have joined this effort by contributing more than $45,000. Donations may be made online at www.mbfoundation.com/ukrainerelief or by sending a check made payable to MB Foundation, designated for Ukraine MB Church Relief Fund.
Funds not used for relief will be available for general ministry support to the Association of MB Churches in Ukraine.
